Indices of Deprivation (Hertfordshire)

The Indices of Deprivation (IoD) are the official measure of relative deprivation for small areas (or neighbourhoods or LSOAs) in England.  The Indices of Deprivation rank every small area in England, with 1 being the most deprived

This report shows information on IoD and the underlying domain indices relative to Hertfordshire and England.

Relative to England - Rank

At local authority levels, summary values (measures) and ranks are calculated across domains. The values calculated for each domain include the average rank (between 1 and 32,844) of the LSOAs in the area. The average ranks for each local authority are then ranked across all the authorities of that level. For counties this is the 151 upper tier authorities in England. Upper tier local authorities include the 26 county councils, 33 London boroughs, 56 unitary authorities and 36 metropolitan districts in England.

Here, you can see where Hertfordshire stands in the national context of the 151 upper tier Local Authorities (LAs) in England in terms of the Index of Mulitple Depriation (IMD).
